I've been looking for a good setup for the FZR but I can't seem to find a good one. I've tried tuning, but it seems every attempt gets worse. I just need a setup that's grippy and quick around the track.
Thank you Crommi! Another beautiful lap. Just as I'd hoped, I've reduced my laptimes by 0.5s thanks to that, and a whole second off my PB. Still much slower than you but down to 1:22:95 now.
Crommi - Any chance of you showing us your hotlapping skills with a video of you doing a nice lap around Summit Point? Have found your previous ones very useful and I could do with another half a second.
Summit Point in the Skippy is great fun. The best track for the Skippy so far this season I think.
It just depends what you're used to. If you're used to pick-up racing then this is bound to seem restrictuve. But if you're used to racing in a league then it is actually much more flexible.
I agree with Crommi here, despite what they say I'm not sure this will change very much, it's too core to how iracing works.
Thanks Crommi and Jason for your thoughts, I am signed up for a year now
I've been practicing in the Skippy at Infineon Long and amd slowly improving, though it will be a while before I get the sort of times you guys seem to be achieving. I'm just hoping to be fast and consistent enough to have a race before the track changes!
Those videos (particularly Crommi's) look very useful too, will be interesting to see if I can cut my lap times down a bit tonight. Up till now I've been having terrible problem getting round the sharp dipping right hander (turn 4?) at any speed, hopefully once I've got that sorted I won't be too far off. I was surprised that I actually seem to drive very similarly to Crommi, despite his lap times being about 7s faster than mine
Yes, good point. We are lucky in LFS that we have some generous people who run servers and race series with their own time and money. It's an area where I think LFS could do a bit more to help though (funding wise at least). The quality race servers and leagues really help LFS to gain and maintain customers. I for one would probably have stopped playing LFS a year ago if it wasn't for the leagues, and I know of 2/3 friends who probably wouldn't have bought a licence if it wasn't for them.
As you say it's clear that some of the good points of LFS have been carried into iRacing, and I expect the opposite to happen over time too. An LFS SR system would be great.
There are more vibrations through the car and FFB, mainly due to the high resolution of the lazer scanned tracks. It's apprently more noticeable in the Skip Barber than in the Solstice.
I wouldn't say it's more lively, not the Solstice anyway but the Legends car is pretty twitchy. You do feel the car rolling more than in LFS though, which feels quite rigid in comparison. Partly this is because you get some head movement which I think is turned off by default in LFS but cannot be turned off in iracing.
But for me the main factor is sense of weight of the car. You can really feel the momentum as you try and turn it into a corner, and this means a lot of the work is done setting up the car on entry to the corners (always true of coarse, but more so than in LFS).
Basically, to me anyway, it feels more like driving a real car, and is more immersive as a result.
Yes, the auto-renew should be off by default. That's a horrible trick which is becoming all too common these days.
Kso, is there a way to edit the program files i.e. change the way the back lights on a car are arranged because I want to change the DDS file for the XR to look like old Corolla lights but this would cause them to light up oddly. So is there a way to get into the files and change information like that?
I'm struggling to decide whether to let my subscription expire or whether to go for the full year. I think I'd really like the Skip Barbers so if I went for the full year I'd probably use the credit to get the Skippy and the 2 tracks needed for the season. I've read mixed things about the Skippy though, although mainly positive. One of my concerns is that next season they'll rotate the tracks and I'll have to buy another 2 to be able to complete that season (and so on!) As another keen LFS single seater driver I'd appreciate your opinion. I know it's only day one but what are the numbers like in the Skippy at the moment?
